Over the past year, the behind the scenes people at Hot 97 have jumped in front of the camera. Specifically, Ebro Darden, the Hot 97 program director, has made himself a popular personality. Definitely a funny dude, Ebro has more of a name for himself than some of the actual radio talent on Hot 97.
Ebro ended up replacing DJ Cipha Sounds during Hot 97’s morning show and he is doing many big interviews. This, paired with his appearances on a couple VH1 reality shows led people to believe he would soon step down as program director. With the station being the plot for VH1’s “This Is Hot 97,” Ebro is stepping down.
He made the announcement on Twitter that he would no longer be program director for Hot 97. The executives at Hot 97 questioned how much longer he could handle the actual business while working for the station on-air and being in the media. Agreeing with them, Ebro decided to end his run.
