According to most scientific research, humans are only granted one chance at life, so it’s important to make the most of it. Often, it’s said that time is of the essence, so it matters how a person chooses to spend it. Carly Monet knows this and she lives life to the fullest.

Not only is she one of the fastest-rising models in the industry, Carly Monet is also a popular magazine writer. Her blossoming career is entering several plateaus, one of which is acting. Coming up, Carly Monet has a movie role in the Devolution of Man film.

Carly Monet is making her presence on the game felt and she recently took time out to speak to Hip Hop Vibe. Speaking with us for the Hottie of the Week segment, Carly Monet discussed her roles as both a writer and a model, and she also discussed her upcoming acting roles that will be revealed later in the year.

Read the entire interview below:

What do you think attracted you to the entertainment industry? I’ve always traveled most of my life, I am an ex military brat, which brought me to different States, schools, and countries. I guess just being around different trends, styles, and cultures attracted me to the industry.

Why did you choose to become a part of the media as a magazine writer? I’ve always wrote in my personal time and still plan on writing a book in the future. I enjoy telling stories. I was asked by a fellow writer to guest write for some magazines.

Does it ever get complicated working on both sides of the spectrum? Not really, the only thing that gets tricky is writing stories for my articles about myself, it feels weird. Sometimes, I am featured or on covers that I have to write for.

Can you talk a little bit about your ethnic background? Well, I am Puerto Rican, Black, White, French, and Indian. My father is black, his grandmother is full-blooded Cherokee, my mom’s family is White, split Puerto Rican, French (Quebec). I know its a huge mix, but as I grew older, I appreciated much more.

Your face has been on the cover of several magazines, do you look back on how far you’ve come when you see yourself? Yes it has. I am extremely humble, I am also kind of transparent to the things I’ve done. I suppose it has a lot to do with me feeling like until the world knows my name, every thing else really doesn’t impress me. I can’t see how far I’ve come until I make it. A lot of people don’t understand this, but I get it.

In recent years, models have used their positions to start empires, who are some of your favorite model moguls? I look up to all women that have made something out of nothing and who have excelled their careers or built empires. Jennifer Lopez, Tyra Banks, Kate Upton, Rosa Acosta, and many others.

You have a role in the upcoming film, Devolution of Man, can you tell us a little bit about that? Well, my character has been changed a few times. In my final script, I play a violent woman who is dragging another woman by her hair through the woods. The film is a sci-fi flick that is wrapped around the concept of the opposite of “Evolution” of man. Instead, The Devolution Of Man. Spike Lee’s assistant director is on the film and a few other notables.

Will fans have the chance to see you in any other acting roles this year? Yes! I have a few other projects coming up I can’t give details to as of yet.

Overall, how do you plan to spend the first part of 2014? I plan on spending this year grinding as usual and perfecting my craft!
