On several fronts, people cannot deny Los Angeles to the masses. Rappers from the city are having breakout success and sports franchises are also doing well. The past couple of years have even seen the Los Angeles hip hop break out and become an a dominant force to the masses.
Last year, it was Kendrick Lamar who broke out and had mainstream success with his debut album. This year, it was Nipsey Hussle who dropped his Crenshaw album/mixtape that DJ Drama hosted. If Nipsey Hussle lacked support from anyone else, he had it from Jay-Z, who performed in Los Angeles last night.
Ab-Soul is one of the current major rappers on the Los Angeles hip hop scene. A major figure within the TDE movement, Ab-Soul is waiting on his breakout year. He definitely made a move in the right direction when he was at the Jay-Z concert and he ran into the man himself, who is very supportive of the West Coast.
