Things have been tense between Kanye West and Nike and rumors suggested him going to Adidas. He had previously spoke of the partnership during an interview with Hot 97’s Angie Martinez. Kanye has boldly proclaimed to become the “the 2pac of product” and has hopes for his Adidas line to begin to hit markets in the fall of 2014.

Originally, Kanye West collaborated with Nike until alleged business and creative differences broke down the partnership. Sources claim that Nike made a late push to keep Kanye with the company but by then it was too late. Moving forward, Kanye joins Robert Griffin III and Dwight Howard, as a representatives of Adidas.

Today, Adidas confirmed a partnership with Kanye West via press release. After feeling like he wasn’t being heard, Kanye West is being heard in more ways than one. A report of the new deal said Kanye West made $10 million upfront and is keeping a large percentage of the royalties.

Read Adidas’ statement below:

“For 2014, we welcome to the adidas family one of the most influential cultural icons of this generation, Kanye West. Well known for breaking boundaries across music, film and design and partnering with our history in streetwear culture and leading innovations in sport, we look forward to creating a new chapter. Details to follow.”
