As 2013 comes to a close, the West Coast hip hop scene continues its dominance over the game. A lot of focus is given to Los Angeles and rightfully so, because the city has produced so much talent, including Thurz. Representing Inglewood, Thurz is known for being one half of U-N-I alongside Yonas Michael.

In 2011, Thurz went solo with his L.A. Riot album, which was met with positive reception from fans and critics. Since then, Thurz has delivered several mixtapes and he is now working on his Blood on the Canvas album. Already, Thurz boasts a hit with the “Ah Man” record, that recently was Hip Hop Vibe’s Video of the Week.

Last month, Thurz took some time out to meet up and we did an interview discussing his new album. Given his U-N-I background, Thurz spoke to Hip Hop Vibe about going solo. He also spoke on Blood on the Canvas, comparing it to his 2011 debut album, L.A. Riot.
