Before the first-ever YouTube Music Awards started, Eminem posted the photo to the left on Instagram. He captioned it by saying he would run a few marathon miles while he is in New York City before the show started. YouTube has been the biggest outlet for entertainment for the past few years and an award show was the logical next step.
Throughout most of 2013, Eminem has not even been thought about, aside from the rumors of him working on a new album. But, Eminem did not make an official announcement until August. Since then, the world has known Eminem is working on his new album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2.
When the awards were issued out and it came to the music, Eminem was up for a big honor. After performing his controversial “Rap God” track, Eminem received the award for Artist of the Year. This is one of the many Artist of the Year-type awards Eminem has received over the years.
