Pusha T addresses his Mase flow on “My Name is My Name”

Pusha T 7New York got the focus back in hip hop in the early 1990s and almost every rapper from the area was met with success. Bad Boy Records led this turnaround and they boasted a big roster. Losing The Notorious B.I.G. in a fatal Los Angeles shooting was a major blow, but it did nothing to stop the momentum the label had.

Mase was already an active artist on the label, so he was boosted to become the new flagship artist of the label. Releasing Harlem World, Mase became the biggest rapper on the planet. His style inspired such rappers as Fabolous and more recently Pusha T, who did not even hide it.

On My Name is My Name, Pusha T has a song with Kelly Rowland called “Let Me Love You,” where he borrows Mase’s flow. In a recent interview, Pusha T said he wanted to try something different because he loves R&B. This led to him borrowing Mase’s flow because of his appreciation for Teddy Riley.
