Even though they have love for each other, every member of Black Hippy is out to murder each other. Kendrick Lamar showed his competitive nature on “Control” and it is shown how ScHoolboy Q is every time he speaks on the Black Hippy album. They are family, but they are also competitors.
Thus far, Kendrick Lamar and Jay Rock have had their fair share of time in the spotlight. But, ScHoolboy Q is just beginning to get his proper exposure in the forefront and his album is continuously delayed. Ab-Soul has remained more in tune with the streets thus far, but his time is coming.
Of course, Ab-Soul is well aware of his time being up soon, but he is not trying to be background fodder for the time being. Most people are still only familiar with Kendrick Lamar and they refer to Black Hippy as “Kendrick Lamar and Black Hippy.” It gets tiring, surely, to be a part of this and see it, so Ab-Soul addressed it.
