DJ Junior presents Artists to Know (Oakland Week Edition): Philthy Rich

Philthy Rich 2By DJ Junior
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Arguably, the brightest star out of the whole Oakland hip hop scene is Philthy Rich, because he never stops. Literally, dude never stops and he’s been hitting the scene hard ever since he got started back in 2008. When he’s not dropping a mixtape, he’s dropping an album or an EP.

In total, Philthy Rich has close to forty-one projects he has dropped over the span of his five year career. Fittingly, Philthy Rich has worked with Gucci Mane and 1017 Brick Squad, seeing how much the camp drops new music. Even in Oakland’s time out of the spotlight, they have remained relevant due to Philthy Rich’s consistency.

Philthy Rich also has ties to other Oakland superstars such as Keak Da Sneak, J. Stalin, Too $hort, E-40, and Mistah F.A.B. Seeing how consistent he is with his projects and the momentum he is building, it is a smart move to align with Philthy Rich. This year, the latest Philthy Rich project dropped.

N.E.R.N.L. 2 was Philthy Rich’s latest project to drop and it featured appearances from Fabolous, Gunplay, and many more.
