Two of two, with Grand Theft Auto V coming, it’s the perfect excuse to come back and look at some of the older characters. Unlike some of the others, Avery Carrington never was the lead character, but he plays a strong part in the series. Born and raised in Texas, he moves to the Miami-inspired Vice City and becomes very wealthy.
He is a legitimate businessman, but Avery Carrington is not above working with criminals. Avery is introduced in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, when he employs Tommy Vercetti to carry out some jobs for him. Later in the game, Avery gives advice to Tommy on how to run his businesses.
Avery Carrington did not play a part in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, but his face is on several Billboards. This gives the impression that his businesses did expand to the state of San Andreas before he met his untimely death. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories is the next title Avery appears in.
Unfortunately for Mr. Carrington, it was his final appearance, as Rockstar Games ended up killing him off to fit the storyline of the game, which is based in 1998.
