Back in 2009, there was a lot of momentum behind Maino, but for some reason, there was a miss. It turned out, Maino noticed it and he felt the exact same way when it came to the New York hip hop scene. During an interview, Maino said the reason guys like him won’t blow up is because older people will not get out of the way.
When Jay-Z was making his promotional rounds for The Blueprint 3, Maino spoke on how he retired and came back. Perhaps the lone person to feel this way, Maino felt as though Jay-Z should’ve retired and helped out some others. Whatever the case, they all continue to coexist.
Maino is all about fellow New York rappers supporting each other and he was at the concert N.O.R.E. held at S.O.B.’s. In the middle of his performance at the concert, Maino took the mic and talked to the crowd. When he spoke, Maino explained how New York needs to support New York.
