French Montana talks Kendrick Lamar’s verse on Big Sean’s “Control” with Pop Candies TV [VIDEO]

French Montana 21Until French Montana, there was not too much interest in the new artists coming up from New York. All of this changed and French Montana’s success brought attention back to the New York hip hop scene. A lot of talented artists are emerging, but none of them have done enough to be “that guy.”

On the flipside, until Kendrick Lamar, there was not too much interest in the new artists coming up from Los Angeles. Kendrick Lamar managed to knock down doors out West that French Montana couldn’t on the East Coast. This might have gone to his head a little when he called himself king of New York on Big Sean’s “Control.”

French Montana was hitting the club when Pop Candies TV got a moment to speak with him. They asked him about how he felt about Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse. A lot like the other artists, French Montana said Kendrick Lamar is entitled to his opinion, but unless they are Big Daddy Kane, rappers need fifteen albums to be king.
