Maino talks Kendrick Lamar and King of New York with DJ Kay Slay [VIDEO]

MainoBefore New York hip hop returned to the forefront of the game, Maino was one of the only rappers holding the scene down. His “All The Above” single with T-Pain hit during the summer of 2009 and gave New York someone to represent. But, as the Empire State has transitioned into the forefront, Maino is playing a background role.

Last year, Maino dropped his new album, but this year he has played an even smaller role in the game. Mostly, Maino is using his name to promote his crew, The Mafia, which is full of rising stars. A lot of people expected to hear something from Maino after the song from Big Sean, “Control,” leaked.

Kendrick Lamar is featured on the record and he sounded off on a majority of the rap game on the record. His line about being the King of New York is what a lot of people feel there should be more of a reaction to. Maino paid a visit to DJ Kay Slay at Shade 45 and they discussed this situation.
