The Gifted has put Wale back into the center of the rap game and it could not have come at a better time. The album came at a time when hip hop is at its brightest moment and Roc Nation is behind the resurgence. Four critically-acclaimed albums have come from Wale, J. Cole, Kanye West, and Jay-Z.
Wale has embraced Roc Nation with this album, rocking with his management more than the Maybach Music home team. The reason for this is Wale brokering some business deals, such as Fat Trel joining Maybach Music and Roc Nation. This had not taken place when Wale, Black Cobain, and Fat Trel did “Sway in the Morning.”
During the sitdown at Shade 45 with Sway Calloway, Wale talked about being disappointed in The Gifted‘s album sales. In the interview, Wale opened up on his aspirations of being a businessman and working out deals for Black Cobain and Fat Trel. He also spoke on Rihanna and Jay-Z.
