HHV New Album Weekly: Freddie Gibbs, Jay-Z, DJ Tony Touch, and Ciara

Magna Carta Holy GrailBy 90sSnapMak
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

The people who truly love hip hop cannot complain about this week. There was a time, only a few months ago, when nobody expected Jay-Z to come back with another album, but he did. For the longest time, it looked like Freddie Gibbs would never have the chance to drop his album, but he did.

DJ Tony Touch has kept his fans updated through several videos he has released onto the internet from his past. Delivering these videos on a weekly basis, DJ Tony Touch did all of this in preparation for his new album. This is another legend from yesteryear who is back on the map.

Last, but not least, there is Ciara who is back with her first album in three years. So, now here is the return of HHV New Album Weekly. On the 4th, Preemo did a special edition devoted solely to Jay-Z. But, this morning the official column is back with info on ESGN, Piecemaker 3, and Ciara in addition to Magna Carta Holy Grail.

See all the albums released today below:

ESGNFreddie Gibbs – ESGN

Most might not know that Freddie Gibbs has been on the underground scene for over a decade and once had a deal with Interscope. He is most-recently known for his feud with Atlanta’s own “Snow Man,” Young Jeezy after he left Jeezy’s CTE label after what he calls “broken promises,” so to speak. All of that is on the back burner now, as Gibbs set to release his first official album, ESGN (Evil Seeds Grow Naturally). His video for “Lay It Down” shows Gibbs is really “about that life” like so many rappers claim to be nowadays. This hard-hitting street anthem has made it’s mark on the underground and has fans patiently waiting for the official version of ESGN. It was leaked earlier this summer on iTunes, so surely there should be some modifications to the official project. Gibbs teams up with a few artists for this project, Jay Rock, Daz Dillinger, BJ The Chicago Kid, and Problem to name a few. This album is hard core hip hop at its finest and nothing less.

Magna Carta Holy GrailJay-Z – Magna Carta Holy Grail

Jay-Z released his twelfth studio album, MCHG (Magna Carta Holy Grail), physically today. Samsung Galaxy users got it for free last week and the album has received rave reviews and also negative comments for Jay-Z stating he’s “already platinum.” Nonetheless, MCHG has been one of the most anticipated albums of the year and is a must-have for any hardcore hip hop fan. Jay-Z teamed up with a lot of artist and producers for this project including Justin Timberlake, Rick Ross, Frank Ocean, Timbaland, Beyonce’, Rick Rubin, and Swizz Beatz. Pulling a page from Kanye, there is no real official first single for this project. If you have not heard it yet, you might want to cop this to add to your Jay-Z collection of platinum albums.

Return of the 50 MCsDJ Tony Touch – Piecemaker 3: The Return of the 50 MCs

If you never heard of Tony Touch, then I suggest you do some research. This MC/DJ/Producer has been on the scene for a better part of two decades, collaborating with some of the biggest names in Hip Hop, past and present. Touch is back with his latest installment of The Piece Maker series, Return of The 50 MCs. This compilation project features artist such as Eminem, Bun B, Twista, Slaughterhouse, Black Thought, Busta Rhymes, Raekwon and more. Touch also enlisted some well known producers for this project Statik Selektah, Just Blaze, and Erick Sermon to name a few. The album full stream has been out for a couple days now and there is no doubt in my mind this will be the hip hop heads soundtrack for the summer.

Ciara albumCiara – Ciara

Another R&B sensation that has been away for a while is making her return. Ciara is back with her self titled project Ciara. Her first single, “Body Party,” has been doing very well on the radio and with the visual that has cameos from her public boyfriend Future who is also a silent feature on the song. Trinidad James and Jazze Pha, whom had a huge part in most of Ciara’s early success in the mainstream world, are also featured on the album. Ciara relased her second single, “I’m Out,” featuring Nicki Minaj just last week and it is already starting to pick up momentum. Her public relationship with Future and her break out single “Body Party” should be enough publicity to boost Ciara’s album sales. Be on the look out for more Ciara and the “Body Party (Dance Remix)” will probably make a huge mark on the club scene.
