Late in 2006, “Throw Some Ds” hit radio waves and the height of the ringtone rap era in hip hop reached. The man in the middle of this craze was Rich Boy, who went on to put the Alabama hip hop scene on the map. “Throw Some Ds” was so big of a hit that Rich Boy could not follow up with a bigger hit.
Rich Boy remained a fixture throughout early 2007 before fizzling away. There are a lot of hip hop artists considered down for the count, Rich Boy was one of those. Not only did he re-emerge this past spring, he came back with a damn good album. Break the Pot helped tide fans over before the major album releases came this past month.
Even though it has been a couple of months, Rich Boy is keeping himself out there and doing interviews. His latest interview came with the hilarious Young Jack Thriller for ThisIs50.com where the topic of being rich came up. Rich Boy is Rich Boy, so he has to be banking right?, actually he doesn’t even consider himself rich.
