Not many people heard much from Rick Rubin since he did a little production on Jay-Z’s “final” LP, The Black Album. Much respect goes out to Rick Rubin from all he has accomplished, coming from someone who admired him. As a fellow producer, of course someone like Rick Rubin is a role model in music.

Rick Rubin came out of his hiatus to begin working with Kanye West. Coming in during the final stages of recording, Rick Rubin helped Kanye West wrap Yeezus. Last week, the album came out and it was met with generally positive reviews, as there are several songs that have been popular on “In the Mix.”

With Yeezus being out, Rick Rubin is still making his rounds with the media. For this album, Kanye West broke his rule “don’t do no press.” Rick Rubin talked to the Daily Beast about the new album and then he was asked about a Yeezus sequel, Rubin said there might be one in the works.

Read an excerpt of the interview below:

When he came to you with the record, did you have a sense of what needed to be done?

Initially, he thought there were going to be 16 songs on the album. But that first day, before he even asked me to work on it, I said, “Maybe you should make it more concise. Maybe this is two albums. Maybe this is just the first half.” That was one of the first breakthroughs. Kanye was like, “That’s what I came here today to hear! It could be 10 songs!”

So there might be another Yeezus in the pipeline?

Might be.
