Album Review: Prodigy and The Alchemist – “Albert Einstein”

Though this is not considered to be the big week in hip hop, this past week had its own fair share of theatrics. Many notable albums were released this week and among them was Albert Einstein by Prodigy and The Alchemist. Mobb Deep has gone through an odd transition and it led to Prodigy and Havoc doing solo projects.

Teaming up with The Alchemist, Prodigy put out Albert Einstein. This is the first album from Prodigy since 2007’s Return of the Mac. Early in 2013, Prodigy released the first single, “Give ‘Em Hell,” which set the tone. Although Prodigy is an older rapper, he bridged the gap between generations with features from veterans and newcomers.

A lot of people want that traditional New York hip hop sound. Prodigy delivers that with his songs like “R.I.P.” with Havoc and Raekwon and also “Death Sentence” with Roc Marciano. Evolved past the 1990s, however, Prodigy has also moved into today’s times with tracks like “Y.N.T.” with Domo Genesis.

With so much music coming out in such a short period of time, it becomes difficult for fans to commit to certain songs. They definitely need to make time to check out Albert Einstein by Prodigy and The Alchemist. Other notable songs off the album include “The One,” featuring Action Bronson.

Hip Hop Vibe’s Rating: 8/10
