One of the biggest surprises at Hot 97’s Summer Jam 2013 was Papoose crashing the show and performing. Kendrick Lamar was instrumental in Papoose being able to steal the show the way he did. On his rise to the top, Kendrick Lamar had major co-signs from both Papoose and DJ Kay Slay.
Kendrick Lamar has gone on to become one of the biggest rappers in the game and he has taken the mainstream. Despite his momentum and the commercial embrace, Papoose remained a mixtape figure. But, Kendrick Lamar is not one to forget his roots and he made room for Papoose during his set at Summer Jam yesterday.
Earlier today, Peter Rosenberg spoke on allowing Papoose to crash Summer Jam. Later in the broadcast, Papoose called in to tell his side of the story. Pulling one over on the program director, Papoose explained how the whole thing came together and he gave props to Kendrick Lamar.
