Thanks to the internet, hip hop fans yearn for mixtapes the way they once did for albums when they were on the verge of being released. Mixtapes have been a blessing to the industry, helping independent rappers gain notice. Frenchie is a member of Brick Squad Monopoly, but he built his own name through his mixtapes, most-recently Long Over Due.

Frenchie had longtime Brick Squad DJ, Trap-A-Holics, host Long Over Due alongside DJ Scream, who has become one of the biggest mixtape DJs in the game. Last month, Frenchie debuted the Long Over Due mixtape cover and his “Power Moves” single with Waka Flocka Flame is doing well.

Hip Hop Vibe had the chance to talk to Frenchie about his new mixtape. Long Over Due was released last night and has already begun to have its impact on the internet. Frenchie spoke on this new mixtape and the “Power Moves” single he is pushing. Those who do not already have Long Over Due can download it here.

Read the entire interview below:

Long Over Due feels more like an album than a mixtape, was this the plan? No, this wasn’t the plan or intention, but I take pride in my craft, so I just gave it my all and let the music speak for itself.

Do you have plans of pushing “Power Moves” with Waka Flocka Flame as a single? Yes. That is my new single it is currently on the radio in about twenty cities trying to get it to number one. It drops on iTunes May 28th.

Obviously, you intended to push this mixtape harder than the others, is this why DJ Scream was added as a host? Actually, I go hard with all my tapes, just I learn from my mistakes in the past do that’s why it may seem like it’s being pushed harder and I chose Scream because he’s my homie and it was that time again.

Were you pleased with the production and the collaborations on the project? Yes very, a lot of crazy features I had still didn’t make it.

What is the next single off Long Over Due? “Power Moves” is the single, period, featuring Waka Flocka Flame.
