Last February, the world received shocking news when it was learned that Don Cornelius committed suicide. The news was unexpected until it was revealed he was suffering from fatal brain cancer. Don Cornelius brought an effective end to the “Soul Train” brand.
However, plans were made to continue the brand. After all, the predecessor to the hip hop media was “Soul Train.” The annual Soul Train Awards have become as big of a staple on BET as their own annual award show has become.
Nick Cannon has a proven record as an entertainment executive. Starting off as talent for TEENick, Nick Cannon now runs the company. A modern day Don Cornelius, of sorts, Nick Cannon has a vested interest in “Soul Train.” Now, it sounds of as if Nick Cannon is ready to take this to the next level with a reboot of “Soul Train.”
