Last summer, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis released their highly successful album, The Heist. The album became a breakout success and has recently been certified gold by the RIAA. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis rose to fame off the summer smash, “Thrift Shop,” which depicted balling on a budget.
No one hit wonders by any means, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are receiving a hefty check from Microsoft in the form of “Can’t Hold Us.” This spring, Microsoft has been running their commercial with “Can’t Hold Us” being played. Recently, the single certified gold with the RIAA.
Today has been an eventful day for the Seattle duo. Earlier this afternoon, it was announced that “Can’t Hold Us” certified platinum. A little later in the day, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis received more good news when it was revealed that “Thrift Shop” has certified six times platinum.
