After his brilliant performance as ‘Doughboy’ in Boyz in the Hood, Ice Cube developed an interest in film and production. With Boyz in the Hood being a success, Ice Cube felt it only portrayed one side of the hood. Wanting to show there also were good times growing up on the streets of Los Angeles, Ice Cube delivered Friday.

The 1995 film became a cult classic and there were demands for a sequel. While it took a long time for a sequel to come, Ice Cube eventually put one together for his fans. But, much of the original cast was missing from the series. One key component was missing in the form of Chris Tucker’s ‘Smokey,’ which was replaced by Mike Epps’ ‘Day Day.’

Over the past couple of years, Chris Tucker has been rumored to agree to returning to the film series. Ice Cube previously confirmed a fourth Friday was in the works, but would only happen with Chris Tucker. Recently, Ice Cube and Mike Epps talked about the new film on Twitter and Cube said he was hustling to get Chris Tucker back.
