Last month, Torch released his mixtape, Tax Season. A native of The Bronx, Torch has been around for some time. Linking up with Rick Ross, Torch ended up becoming a part of Maybach Music after relocating to Miami. Taken under the wing of Rick Ross, Torch was bound for success.
Maybach Music is definitely the hottest crew in the game and the original members of the crew are making moves. Torch released Tax Season and it received over 100,000 downloads on the internet. There is a lot going on with Torch, as he is preparing the “Supa Bad” single with Styles P and developing his Specialyst Entertainment.
Hip Hop Vibe had the chance to speak with Torch about a lot of the things going on within himself. As a member of the hottest crew in the game, Torch is establishing his individuality. During this interview, Torch spoke on Tax Season, the Styles P collaboration, his record label, and his next mixtape, among other topics.

Were you surprised at the numbers Tax Season did? I’m not surprised at the numbers anymore. I was when my last tape, No A/C came out, but I like this now. The reaction to the tape has been well, I have a tour set up and “Supa Hard” with Styles P is going hard.
What was your favorite collaboration off the mixtape? My favorite has to be “Supa Hard” with Styles P, I also like “Straight Work” with Haitian Jak and my track with Provalone P, “Champagne Wishes.”
Since you grew up a fan of Styles P, what was it like to do “Supa Hard” with him? Oh man. I think everybody in New York respects The L.O.X., and it was definitely a big moment for me. This is my coming of age, where the people you grew up looking up to become your peers and your teammates.
You two recently shot the music video for that right? I’m shooting for “X Marks the Spot” off the Funkmaster Flex mixtape and the whole Bronx is going crazy right now.
Other features on the mixtape came from some of your Specialyst Ent., correct? Yeah. Provalone P and Haitian Jak and they have work coming up. They both have mixtapes on the way to be on the lookout for.
Can you tell us more about this roster? Oh yeah, this label has a lot in the works. We are self made with our own studio, our own cameras. Shout out to my partners, Geter K and Lou, and the whole team, there are a lot of names to mention, Provalone P and Haitian Jak.
With all the crews doing compilations, will you be doing one with Specialyst Ent.? Definitely. We are going to do that, but we want to brand our artists first. But, after that, we will be doing quite a few collaborations.
What should fans expect off your latest edition of No AC, which is due in June? At the end of the day, it is all about growth on these projects and this one is, No AC, Vol. 2. It’s coming up either late May or early June.
Your new mixtape comes during a good time for New York hip hop, how does it feel to be back on top, or do you feel as if New York never fell off? I feel it is great, I wouldn’t go as far as to say we are on top, but we have made big moves and great things are bound to happen. Unity has put New York in this position and it is good to see all these artists collaborating with each other and the platform was created, that’s what the South did and they’re winning.
