Classifications of regions in the game have somewhat played out. A few years ago, there were major debates of the “King of the South,” the “King of New York,” so on and so forth into 2013 hip hop. Again, these debates have become pointless, as hip hop shares a central location on the internet.
But, if the Deep South had a king of their hip hop scene, it would have to be Big K.R.I.T., who has inspired a new generation of rappers. A popular mixtape rapper, Big K.R.I.T. made it big and signed with Def Jam. Last summer, he released his debut album and has since returned to making waves on the mixtape scene.
Big K.R.I.T. recently had dealings in Washington, DC and linked up with the founder of the Broccoli Fest. The Broccoli Fest is the first-ever urban “green” festival and Big K.R.I.T. headlined their celebration. Others who appeared host Va$htie, Phil Ade, and JMSN.
