Hardcore Jay-Z fans should be very familiar with Young Guru. On songs from many of his 2000s albums, Jay-Z mentions him in his songs. Using such lines as “Guru, cut the lights down,” Jay-Z made Young Guru a part of the team. Since the late 1990s, Young Guru has been a part of the Roc.

A chance meeting with Memphis Bleek opened the door to Jay-Z. Remaining good friends with Memphis Bleek, Young Guru works closely with Jay-Z. Recently, Young Guru made headlines, as he was responsible for Kendrick Lamar’s Jay-Z-assisted “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” remix.

Young Guru was recently at New York University with Sway Calloway and he talked about his entire experience with the Roc. Though this interview took place at a separate time, Sway Calloway used this for his MTV series, “RapFix Live.” During the interview, he talked about Jay-Z’s recording process, Kanye West, and much more.
