For the sake of bigger business, Jay-Z has had to give up on some of his earlier ventures, including the ones who made him the man he is today in business. A decade ago, no one could have imagined Roc-A-Fella Records and Rocawear without Jay-Z. Now, Jay-Z is no longer the owner of either company.

In favor of his Roc Nation company with Live Nation, Jay-Z officially left Roc-A-Fella Records (in turmoil). Ten years ago, Jay-Z traded in “ghetto fabulous” for “business-savvy chic” and took over as minority owner of the NBA’s Nets. Jay-Z’s mission was to bring the team to Brooklyn, which he did.

But, by the time Jay-Z brought the Nets to Brooklyn and they finally began playing like contenders, he finds himself torn because of business. Recently, Jay-Z has ventured into sports management with Roc Nation Sports. Sports pundits immediately said Jay-Z would have to sell his stake in the Nets if he wanted to represent NBA players and rumors say he will be doing just that.
