As far as women have come since the 1920s, Nicki Minaj feels as if they have not come far enough. It was four short years ago when Nicki Minaj happened to be just another New York rapper trying to find her way. Nicki Minaj had connections to the industry, but that is only one portion of a much longer journey.

Facing obstacles, Nicki Minaj did the impossible for a little girl from Queens and she made her dreams come true. By 2010, Nicki Minaj was the biggest new artist in the game and had tracks with such veterans as Usher and Ludacris. Times have changed and Nicki Minaj has become much bigger than hip hop, which has caused some backlash.

Nicki Minaj premiered her “High School” music video with Lil Wayne on MTV. Before the actual music video premiered, Nicki Minaj gave MTV Overdrive an interview. During the interview, Nicki Minaj spoke on the male-dominated hip hop game. In the interview, Nicki Minaj said she feels as if she is better than most male rappers in the game.
