Next week, Tyga will release Hotel California, his sophomore album. Overlooked when talking about Los Angeles’ hip hop renaissance, Tyga has been receiving mainstream attention much longer than both Kendrick Lamar and Tyler, the Creator. As a member of Young Money, Tyga has been at the forefront of the rap game for years.
Tyga began the promotion of this album by reinventing a practice that has been in place for a few years, now. Typically, rappers deliver a mixtape before the album as a promotional tool, but in Tyga’s case, he took things a step farther. Instead of simply releasing a mixtape, Tyga did an entire EP to promote his single with Rick Ross.
Now, Hotel California is among us and Tyga is ready to take his act all around the world. The tour is set to begin in Germany on April 30 and, from there, Tyga will tour throughout Europe, undoubtedly visiting some of the cities Kanye West ranted at. But, in the meantime, Tyga will be promoting his new album.
