In 2012, Nas showed the world how to properly come back. Not only coming back with new music, Nas did so with one of the best albums in years. Lyricism has returned to hip hop and Nas was at the forefront of this comeback. Many have said it is a split between the veteran Nas and the newcomer Kendrick Lamar.
For many, Nas brought back the old era of hip hop through his music. With a lot of the newcomers out, many are not impressed with their lifestyles and products. At one point, it was clear Nas felt the same way, as he started the Hip Hop is Dead movement. Years later, he has continuously cleared this misconception up.
During a recent interview, Nas spoke on some of the problems with the new generation of rappers and the current state of hip hop. Many are upset with many of the things said and done by Lil Wayne. While Nas did not address Lil Wayne, as the two are actually friends, he spoke on his reasons for believing the game needs changing.
