Philadelphia hip hop group, The Roots, have managed to change with the times and have lasted twenty years in the game. Hip hop is forever changing and it is hard for the talent to keep up. The Roots are the exception to the rule and their consistent run of album releases have kept them going strong over the years.

Fans of late night comics should be very familiar with The Roots. Since 2009, The Roots have served as the house band for Jimmy Fallon’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.” All the constant media exposure has kept the group popular. Now, The Roots are preparing for their first album since 2011.

& Then You Shoot Your Cousin is the name of The Roots’ next album. Three group members, Black Thought, Kirk Douglas, and Mark Kelley recently talked to Hard Knock TV about some of their upcoming work. The conversation included their five favorite emcees and of course their upcoming album.
