Fifteen years after A Tribe Called Quest last released a new album, the group is still going strong and performing at shows. Proving they are still very much up with the times, the group is currently in Austin, Texas performing at SXSW 2013. A Tribe Called Quest is currently back in the news, as Q-Tip is working on his solo album.
Back in 2011, Q-Tip signed with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music. However, Q-Tip played a background role with the label in 2012. Cruel Summer was released and it featured no contributions, at all, from Q-Tip. In response to this, Q-Tip inadvertently announced the next compilation, Cruel Winter.
Still in Texas with the remainder of A Tribe Called Quest for SXSW 2013, Q-Tip and company talked with Billboard. During the interview, A Tribe Called Quest talked about the next Q-Tip album and their input. The group also talked about the SXSW festivals that occur every spring.
