It is difficult to operate in the hip hop media when one holds personal relationships with the entertainers. With the job coming before the friendships, often times situations become highly personal. How these situations are handled determines how the future will play out and this has been the case with MTV’s Sway Calloway and Kanye West.
Sway is the man behind MTV’s annual list “Hottest MCs in the Game.” However, the positions in the yearly countdown are determined by Sway and his “Brain Trust.” The decision to place Kanye West as number seven on the list caused the Chicago emcee to call Sway out and make claims that he gave the famed reporter his first television.
With Kanye West taking personal digs at Sway, he used his MTV platform to brush it all off, joking that he never received the remote. In addition to confronting the TV story, Sway also revealed he would feature the TV during one of his broadcasts. Staying true to his word, Sway did just that and he explained the story to the viewers.
