At a time when several rappers have been going to prison, Gunplay escaped this fate and he has much to celebrate. Signed to Rick Ross’ Maybach Music, Gunplay filled the background in 2011 and began taking his own spotlight in 2012. Gunplay’s career reached new heights late in the summer of 2012.

Gunplay stole the show at the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards. A bit of controversy, it appeared as if Gunplay had the right inspiration to push his career forward. Instead, the popular Miami rapper was sent to prison for armed robbery. After standing trial, things turned out well for Gunplay, as he was acquitted.

Recently, NBC Miami talked to Gunplay and he opened up about his feeling since he has been cleared of all the charges. Since October, Gunplay has been on house arrest, but now he is completely free of all charges. A free man, Gunplay issued an official statement to NBC Miami.

“I feel humbled. I feel blessed. I feel like I hit the lotto,” Morales, 33, told NBC 6 South Florida. “I’m just happy to be back with my friends and family.”

“I just wanted to publicly for the record apologize to the two parties involved, my family, the victim’s family,” Morales said.
