Initially, Lupe Fiasco planned to end his career in 2008 with his LupEND album. However, due to the content of this album, Lupe Fiasco faced several delays. While Lupe Fiasco faced countless push backs, Plies released two albums in the same year. Ultimately, Lupe Fiasco decided against retiring.

Lupe Fiasco soon revamped his plans and began working on Lasers. In 2011, Lupe Fiasco finally released Lasers, after giving in to the demands of Atlantic Records. The album still ended up being met with positive reviews. Last year, Lupe Fiasco released his fourth studio album, Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album, Pt. 1.

Initially, Lupe Fiasco planned to release the sequel to this album in 2013. Lupe Fiasco ended up cancelling plans of making this album. Currently, Lupe Fiasco is in Los Angeles for the 55th Annual Grammy Awards. Via Twitter, Lupe Fiasco announced his upcoming album, Tetsuo & Verde, which is due later this year.
