Once upon a time, Def Jam came under much criticism for their lack of West Coast artists. The famed hip hop label responded by signing YG to their roster. YG has been one of the biggest mixtape rappers in Los Angeles for some time. Last month, YG released his new mixtape, Just Re’d Up 2.

Before the deals, YG, along with Nipsey Hussle, and many others represented the next generation of Los Angeles hip hop, but remained unsigned. Nipsey Hussle was introduced to a much larger fan base when he appeared on Snoop Dogg’s Malice N Wonderland album. Maybach Music is currently scouting him.

YG recently visited Power 106, in his native Los Angeles. Recently, YG spoke on the role that Young Jeezy would play on his Welcome to Bompton album. Before this album, YG spoke on his joint mixtape with Nipsey Hussle, 2 of America’s Most Wanted. This mixtape was announced in the second clip to hit the internet.
