It is often difficult for new artists to gain footing in the rap game. Typically, the new artist will initially receive praise and then the backlash comes. This is the case for A$AP Rocky, who had a strong introduction to the game, performing all over the nation. But, A$AP Rocky soon began being criticized for his Southern sound while being a New York City native.

Good music is always the deciding factor, however. A$AP Rocky, despite what he sounds like in comparison to where he is from, makes good music. However, this good music did not translate into a mainstream hit. In need of a hit to launch his Long.Live.A$AP album, A$AP Rocky managed to get 2 Chainz, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar for his “Fuckin’ Problems” single.

Released in November, “Fuckin’ Problems” has done quite well over the past three months. In the club, the song continues to be among the favorites spun by the DJs. A$AP Rocky said he picked each artist for a different reason, but he knew 2 Chainz would be featured on the single and then he reached out to Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
