A little over one week ago, the official artwork for French Montana’s debut album, Excuse My French, was released. Along with the artwork, there were rumors of French Montana being pushed back, once again. When French Montana signed with Bad Boy Records, in 2011, it was made clear his album would be released in 2012, but that did not happen.

Primarily a mixtape rapper, French Montana did earn national radio play with his “Pop That” single, featuring Rick Ross, Drake, and Lil Wayne. Boasting three of the biggest hitmakers over the past five years, it was tough to overlook French Montana. Interscope Records is firmly behind their new star and French Montana is obviously 2013’s biggest “new” artist.

Bad Boy Records’ president, Harve Pierre, spoke to Rolling Stone about the Excuse My French album cover. Harve Pierre explained why this cover was chosen to represent French Montana’s debut album. What is often overlooked is French Montana’s Moroccan background, which is represented in the cover, as said by Harve Pierre.
