Coming into 2011, many fans of New York hip hop had pinned their hopes on Fred the Godson when it came to restoring the city to prominence. But, French Montana ended up taking the momentum and making New York hip hop relevant, outside of Jay-Z, again. French Montana caused a bidding war before he eventually signed with Bad Boy Records.

French Montana was close to signing with Rick Ross’ Maybach Music. A consolation for opting to sign with Diddy, French Montana tapped Rick Ross to be the executive producer of his debut album, Excuse My French. Initially, French Montana planned to release his album in July 2012 and has been delayed consistently ever since.

The third official single, “Freaks,” which features Nicki Minaj, is in the works. Young Chop released the Excuse My French album cover early this morning, via Instagram. With the cover of the album out, it looks like French Montana will face another delay with his debut album. A new release date has been scheduled for April 16.
