Last month, Mac Miller announced he would be starring in his own reality show, which would air on MTV2. Previously, MTV2 featured a reality series, which starred Young Money rapper, Cory Gunz. Since 2011, MTV2 has focused more on hip hop programming, the market for rappers in reality shows has opened.
MTV2’s refocus on hip hop has opened doors for a number of mixtape rappers. Before being broadcast on the mainstream, Mac Miller and many others conducted some of their first major interviews on MTV2. Now, Mac Miller is giving back to an outlet that helped make him famous.
Now, Mac Miller has revealed the title of his series, “Mac Miller and the Most Dope Family,” which is set to premiere on February 26. Because he is an independent artist, Mac Miller says having a reality show is an advantage for him. Mac Miller’s sophomore album, which is titled Watching Movies with the Sound Off, is coming soon.
