In 2011, Future rose to fame behind the strength of his “Tony Montana” single. Rising to fame, Future found his music receiving a high number of downloads. With his music in rotation, the world was introduced to a new term “Freebandz.” Known as Future’s crew, not many people outside of Atlanta know about the crew. In 2012, fans got acclimated with Young Scooter, but much of his buzz has come from aligning himself with Gucci Mane and 1017 Brick Squad. To properly introduce his Freebandz crew, Future decided to team up with DJ Drama for a compilation mixtape, FBG: The Movie. Freebandz was live and in full effect on this new mixtape, as the world got a chance to properly meet Slice 9, Casino, Maceo, Mexico Rann, and Stuey Rock, in addition to Rocko, Future, and Young Scooter. Other guests on the mixtape include Birdman, Wale, Drake, Sisqo, and Big Bank Black.
