In the past decade, 50 Cent did what many felt was impossible. First, 50 Cent became the first mixtape rapper to successfully go mainstream. Upon releasing his commercial debut, 50 Cent set records in terms of debut album sales. 50 Cent later shot past everyone in the game, becoming much wealthier than those he admired.
One of the first people 50 Cent worked with, outside of Eminem and Dr. Dre, was Timbaland. Previously, Timbaland had worked with Ja Rule, 50 Cent’s arch rival, but has since been supporting the G-Unit boss. Recently, Timbaland officially joined 50 Cent’s corner when he bought into SMS, 50’s pet project.
Mashable spoke to 50 Cent about his new collaboration with Timbaland. The two have done several records together and now they are doing business. 50 Cent’s SMS includes both headphones and boxing promotion. During the interview, 50 Cent explained how everything came together.
