Well aware that this is old news, this was among the biggest stories Hip Hop Vibe missed during our forced hiatus. Following the release of Cole World: The Sideline Story, J. Cole promised fans his sophomore album would come in 2012. A protégé of Jay-Z, J. Cole planned to follow in his footsteps and release annual albums.

Given the late September 2011 release of his album, many doubted J. Cole would actually release his album in 2012. With the exception of releasing the “Nobody’s Perfect” music video, which featured Missy Elliott, there was nothing from J. Cole until late this year. J. Cole announced Born Sinner, his second album, and gave it a January 28 release date.

January 2013, according to the December 2012 news releases, was going to be full of releases from the biggest names in the game. However, it was clear to most that these albums would indeed be delayed. J. Cole officially spoke to Hip-Hop Wired earlier this week and announced that his album would not be due on his birthday.
