While not as high-profile as many of his rap counterparts, Curren$y had a pretty explosive 2012. There are few artists who release music as consistently as Curren$y, the New Orleans spitter. Curren$y departed Young Money in 2007 and his career has elevated to new heights since.

Hip hop is full of many success stories and failures. In 2012, the world witnessed hip hop return to its roots. At the same time, hip hop went ever further off base. Being true to oneself returned to prominence, however. Curren$y does just that, as he mixes his interest in cars into his rhymes, titles, and cover art.

Curren$y recently spoke on this car interest with The Good Guys. During the interview, Curren$y also talked about Wiz Khalifa, his former label-mate. Breaking the mold when it comes to independence, Curren$y also offered advice to those trying to break into the rap game.
