New York City before 2011 was in a desperate place. The main stars carrying the city were Jay-Z and 50 Cent. Both contributed a lot of the rap game, but it was Jay-Z’s legacy and 50 Cent’s controversy keeping them relevant. Over the seven prior years, there were projections about who would take over.

In 2011, French Montana blew past all of them. French Montana quietly began building his reputation in the rap game. Since 2007, French Montana and his Coke Boys crew have been taking over New York City. A bidding war for French Montana built and he chose Bad Boy Records and began working on Excuse My French.

Initially, French Montana was expected to release Excuse My French in July. The release date was never confirmed, however. It was said if the album did not come out in July, it would instead be released in December. Now, French Montana revealed, via Twitter, the album is due on March 13, 2013.
