Alongside Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller has been downright sensational. Putting Pittsburgh’s hip hop scene on the map, Mac Miller finds himself preparing for his sophomore album. So far, Mac Miller has found most of his success with mixtapes, returning to his original artform in 2012.
In 2011, MTV2 announced a rededication to hip hop. Circa 2003-2004, MTV2 boasted a heavy lineup of hip hop-oriented programs. Since then, MTV2 began to mirror its charter channel, MTV. However, with reruns of “Martin” and the hip hop programming, the MTV2 network is a surrogate home of hip hop, once again.
Mac Miller has become a fixture on the new MTV2. Much of his star status comes from his appearances on MTV2 and, of course, the internet. MTV2 has realized this and they reached out to Mac Miller for a six part docu-series chronicling Mac Miller moving from his Pittsburgh hometown to Los Angeles. Mac Miller said it is a cool experience.
