Despite having a completely different style, Waka Flocka Flame made it clear he was inspired by Tupac Shakur. Seemingly replacing OJ Da Juiceman, in the newly-formed 1017 Brick Squad, Waka Flocka Flame was one of 2010’s breakout stars. His 2010 debut album was named Flockaveli.

Waka Flocka Flame faced much criticism, especially after he said he does not care about lyrics. Hip hop was on a continued decline in the eyes of most and they painted the target on Waka Flocka’s back. However, Waka Flocka Flame took it in stride and said his lifelong dream is to be a professional wrestler, not a rapper.

Interviewing with Noisey’s “The People,” Waka Flocka Flame spoke on how he is worse than Tupac Shakur. During his time, Tupac Shakur was arguably the most-controversial rapper out. Since him, there has been DMX, 50 Cent, Game, and Waka Flocka Flame, among many others.
