Drake signs deal with Warner Bros. Records for October’s Very Own label

Warner Bros. Records has become a hotbed for hip hop over the past few years. In 2011, Warner pulled off a major deal when Curren$y and Maybach Music signed with them. Both of those deals came at the expense of Birdman and Cash Money Records, as he has major plans.

Drake, while all over numerous records, has been silent this year. Providing verses for newcomers, 2 Chainz, Meek Mill, and A$AP Rocky, Drake ultimately decided not to release an album in 2012. But, he did focus on the growth of his October’s Very Own label.

Birdman has been focused on not only signing artists, but also labels to Cash Money, evidenced by Young Money’s growth. After missing out on Rick Ross’ Maybach Music in 2011, Birdman landed DJ Khaled’s We the Best in 2012. But, the same cannot be said for Drake’s OVO label, which will be housed by Warner Bros. Records.
