Five years ago, 50 Cent was written off by the rap world. While his numbers were still better than most of the biggest names, 50 Cent was declining. However, 50 Cent managed to buy time with “I Get Money.” But, the sales of Curtis were disappointing for 50 Cent, as he barely managed to go platinum, after coming close to diamond twice.

After the poor sales of Before I Self Destruct, 50 Cent and Interscope Records’ relationship reached new lows. 50 Cent made it appear as if he had left the label, announcing he was in talks with Def Jam. Eventually, 50 Cent reached a deal with EMI that turned out to only be for Lloyd Banks.

XXL recently spoke to 50 Cent and he was questioned about “My Life,” which features Adam Levine and Eminem. “My Life” is 50 Cent’s first true hit since his 2007 decline. When asked about French Montana, the conversation went sour, which prompted 50 Cent to hang up on the interviewer.
