In the early 2000s, Cassidy rose to game after signing to Swizz Beatz’ Full Surface label. Cassidy was the latest rapper from Philadelphia, which also boasted State Property and Eve. At a time when the City of Brotherly Love was said to be falling off, Cassidy picked it up. From 2003 through 2005, Cassidy kept things interesting, releasing several hits.

However, a near-fatal car accident deemed Cassidy helpless in 2006. Close to death, Cassidy did not release an album in 2006. While his health was poor, it did not stop fans from moving on and soon the Lil Wayne wave swept the game. Cassidy reunited with Swizz Beatz in 2007, delivering his third album and his most-recent hit, “Drink N My 2 Step.”

Since then, Meek Mill is considered the rapper who brought Philadelphia back to the forefront and he has had numerous clashes with Cassidy. After their most-recent Twitter beef, which started over a battle rap challenge, Cassidy spoke out against Meek Mill. Cassidy recently sat down with AllHipHop.com to discuss their issues.
